Information

Member at Large

Member at Large, often shortened to MAL, gives qualifying riders a way to stay connected to the Red Knights even when they are not close enough to join an established chapter.

What MAL means
A route for members outside reasonable chapter distance.

People who qualify for Active membership may be granted Member-at-Large status by the International Executive Board if they do not live within a reasonable distance of an already established chapter.

The basis of the MAL programme is to bring exposure of the club into new areas where there is little or no current Red Knights presence. If approved as a MAL, the hope is that the member may help build interest in the club and, over time, support the formation of a new chapter.

MAL across Europe

Member-at-Large representation currently spans the following European countries:

Belgium
Croatia
England
Finland

Who can become a MAL

People who qualify for Active membership may be granted Member-at-Large status by the International Executive Board when they do not live within a reasonable distance of an already established chapter.

Why the programme exists

The MAL programme helps bring Red Knights visibility into new areas where the club has little or no presence, with the hope that interest may grow into future chapter development.

How MAL members are supported

MAL members do not belong to a chapter, so they are under the control of the International Executive Board, with the European representative acting as the first line of communication.

Application

How to apply

To become a Member at Large, you need to complete the online application on the international website.

The application is reviewed by the International Vice-President and considered with the support of the Regional Director and the MAL Representative.

Communication

MAL members do not have a chapter president or chapter board, because they are not members of a chapter. Their direct club structure sits under the International Executive Board.
